Fraud Alerts

At First Capital Federal Credit Union, we’re serious about protecting you from fraudulent activity on your accounts. That’s why we are strengthening our defenses with a new system that can identify threats faster, notify you sooner, and equip you with the tools you need to take immediate action against fraud. Previously, you would have only received a personal call from a live agent if fraud was suspected. The new system allows you to receive an automated call that easily walks you through reviewing suspicious activity on your card. You may also receive Fraud Alerts text messages on your mobile phone. We will also send a fraud alert via email.

Our new system includes:
  • IMMEDIATE alerts
When suspicious activity has been detected on your account, we don’t wait for an agent to dial your number – our system will contact you by text, phone or email.
  • 2-Way Communication
You can take action the second you receive your alert – by texting the provided command word; replying to the email by simply selecting the button "All transactions authorized" or "One or more transactions not authorized;" or interacting with the automated system on the phone, simply follow the instructions to answer questions regarding your recent card activity.
  • Real-time Support
Our live agents are ready to assist you at any time to ensure you receive the best defense exactly when you need it.
Don’t delay – Please log into FirstCap Connect to review and update your contact information to make sure you receive important fraud alerts about your account.

Keep in mind, while First Capital does monitor fraudulent or suspicious account activity and may proactively contact a member about this activity, we will never call and ask for confidential information such as your entire account number or PIN. Contact 800-893-2328 or 717-767-5551 if you have provided confidential information. For more information visit: Fraud Alerts FAQ

eAlerts

Now receive a text or email whenever you pay with your Visa card!

With near real-time Alerts, available through Card Controls in FirstCap Connect, you can receive updates on your Visa card activity. And this unique service is available free for First Capital Federal Credit Union Visa cardholders.

After your Visa card has been used, you will receive an alert through text message or email. If there is fraudulent activity, you can find out within minutes and act quickly to resolve the situation.

How you use the service is up to you. You can choose to receive alerts when your Visa card is used for purchases over a specified amount, online transactions, purchases outside the United States, and more. You can even customize the purchase amount threshold — for example, setting it to only receive alerts for purchases above $50.

Select the delivery options that best meet your needs, with text messages, emails, or both for extra security and convenience. Each alert contains important information, including the purchase amount, merchant name and location (if available), and the last four digits of the Visa card used to keep you best informed.

To Set Up Alerts:

To enable alerts, sign in to FirstCap Connect. In the Mobile App, tap ‘More’ in the bottom right corner, then tap the gear icon and select My Settings. Scroll down and click the Alerts & Notifications link. In Online Banking, click Notifications in the blue menu bar, then click the Settings link at the bottom of the pop-up display. Once the settings are displayed, review the screen to confirm your email address, phone number, and general alert settings. You will select alerts for card-related transactions in the next step.

Now that you’ve reviewed general alert settings, it’s time to set up card alerts. In our Mobile App, tap ‘More’ in the bottom right corner, and then select Card Controls from the on-screen menu. In Online Banking, select Card Controls from the red menu bar. During your first visit to Card Controls, you’ll review and accept the Terms and Conditions. After acceptance, any debit and credit cards associated with your membership will appear on the screen. Alert settings apply to each card individually. Select the card you want to receive alerts for, then select Alerts and Controls. You may receive alerts for all transactions, blocked transactions, or preferred transactions. The default setting is Preferred Transactions, which allows you to customize alerts based on merchant type, transaction type, location type, or the transaction amount. When an alert is enabled, a green bell icon will appear.

Finally, select whether you want to receive card alerts via text message, email, or both. Return to Card Controls and select the card you’re working with. Then select Delivery Options. Use the switch next to your phone number or email address to turn notifications on or off. That’s it…you’re all set!
